About Us

SERvice TO MAnkind =

SERTOMA

When those three words, Service To Mankind, are put together it speaks not only to who we are but also what we do.

Sertoma International, one of the oldest service clubs in the United States, is the parent organization of all Sertoma clubs across the United States and Canada and is organized geographically by seven regions. Its mission is to connect those who are called to serve with those who can’t hear the call.

Sertoma supports its clubs by providing mission oriented programs, professional development and training to help increase the effectiveness of its clubs community activities.

Our Carlisle Area Sertoma club was chartered in May 1998 with the goal to help bring SERvice TO Mankind back into the community. The club is made up of volunteers with the desire to have FUN while raising funds to help others.

Since chartering, we have given almost $100,000 in college scholarships to local high school students seeking to study Audiology, Speech Pathology, or Special Education. Our goal is to help young students fulfill roles in the future to help those in need of hearing and speech support.

Our service includes supporting individuals in need as well as making yearly donations to local non-profits whose missions and services are synergistic with ours.

We believe that all organizations should work together to maximize the reach in our Carlisle and surrounding areas. We’ve given out thousands of dollars to support local organizations such as Community CARES, Safe Harbour, Project SHARE, S.P.Y., Eastside Neighbors Association, Biddle Mission Park, Carlisle Area Family Life Center, Bountiful Blessings, and the Bosler Library, to name a few.
